Suzuki TR750 replica

I was recently sent some photographs of a Suzuki TR750 replica that is being built by Juha over in Finland. What a great bike!

Juha tells me he started work on his TR replica way back in Sept 2004, so you can see he has put in plenty of hours hard work to get it to this stage.
The frame: Juha has extensively modified the frame, doing all the welding himself. Juha wanted it look like the original TR frame, but he made a few changes. He has put a curve in the tube that is under the fuel tank. Juha tells me he put the curve in so he could fit the fuel tank lower, so he can get down lower on the bike when he races it. Juha says the fuel tank on his bike is quite a bit lower than a genuine TR. He just hopes that his frame mods have not made the standard frame weaker. (is that possible??? Mike)
The front forks are from a Suzuki RG500 but have been modified, so now they only look like RG500.
The swingarm was designed by Juha. He did all the drawings etc but didn't trust his own welding skills to fabricate it himself, so the task of welding the sections together was passed to a professional welder. (good idea)
The rear shock absorbers are by FOX
Fairing: The upper fairing is from Suzuki RG 500 of 1977 vintage. Juha modified it so that it looks like the original item. Juha designed and made the lower fairing himself from thin aluminium plate, He says it took him 100's of attempts until he was satisfied with it. Juha tells me it is his own design, which he thinks could be a little narrower than an original TR.

The Fuel Tank: The top of the fuel tank is from a 1981 Suzuki RG500, Juha modified it extensively, the sides and the underneath of the tank are Juha's own design. The end result is pretty close to an original TR750 tank.
The Seat: The seat unit is from a 1977 Suzuki RG500
Front Fender: Also a modified unit, to look more like an original TR750
Juha has carried out all of the glassfibre work himself, and has made molds for all of the bodywork so he can replace the parts if he damages his bike while thrashing it round the track. (Lets hope not Juha)
All the paintwork is Juha's work, he tells me the cost of having it done professionally in Finland is extortionate so he tried his hand at spraying. Well it looks very very good to me Juha.

The Motor: The motor (not yet fitted in these pictures) has been ported to TR750 specs, and will have three Mikuni VM38 carbs fitted. The gearbox is standard five speed GT750 with the exception of first gear, which is a little taller (14/34)
