The BMW Boxer Twin
Well, I never thought I would see the day when I actually owned a BMW. The BMW boxer twin is as far away from my Kawasaki H2 as is possible. But do I like it? Hell yes!
I decided I wanted a bike that I could just open the garage door put in the ignition key and ride away. Classics are great, but you can rarely do that with them.
I decided it had to be a twin, I have had many fours, and I just fancied the lazy beat of a big twin. I looked at an Aprilia, but there was no passenger seat to speak of, and 90% of the time my wife is with me.
Looked at the BMW range of bikes, Clean lines, shaft drive, a gentlemans bike. Enter the BMW R1100S!

Well the intention was to keep it totally stock!
So far I have enlarged the air intake duct and fitted a large K&N airfilter. I recently fitted ‘Lennies’ 9 deg advance cam sprockets. Together they certainly work, the bike pulling really hard in the lower rev range. Making for a nicer ‘road bike’
I have also raised the handle bars to a higher position, and had the seat totally rebuilt by Tony Archer (Huddersfield) for more comfort.
The bike now sports black stainless steel brakes hoses both front & rear.
